The Grooviest Basement in West Michigan? Welcome to 3702 Socorro in Grandville

Some houses are memorable because they’re luxurious. Others stand out because they’re trendy. But every once in awhile, a home comes along with so much personality that you can’t help but smile the second you walk downstairs.
That’s exactly what happened at 3702 Socorro in Grandville.
In the video tour accompanying this blog, I decided the basement deserved its own moment in history — literally. So yes, I showed up wearing 1970s-inspired clothing and peace-sign earrings because honestly, this basement earned it.
Upstairs, the home has been beautifully updated and lovingly maintained by the same family since the 1970s. The kitchen, living areas, bathrooms, and bedrooms feel clean, comfortable, and move-in ready for today’s buyers. But downstairs? That’s where things get unexpectedly fun.
The basement still carries its original 1972 personality with retro finishes, entertaining space, and a vibe that feels straight out of another era. It may honestly be the most unexpected basement in West Michigan.
And here’s the thing — buyers have options.
You can fully embrace the retro charm and keep the groovy entertaining space exactly as it is, or you can modernize it over time with updated finishes and larger window wells to completely transform the lower level into bright additional living space. Either direction works because the home itself has been cared for so well over the years.
What makes this property even better is the location.
After filming the house, we headed downtown Grandville because this community is a huge part of the story too. Grandville continues to attract buyers because it still feels connected and local in the best ways. Residents enjoy the farmers market twice a week during the season, summer concerts and bands downtown, the Grandville Blueberry Festival, parades, local shops, restaurants, and community events along Chicago Drive.
It’s the kind of place where families gather, neighbors know one another, and traditions still matter.
Homes like 3702 Socorro don’t come along often. It’s updated, spotless, full of character, and tied to a community people genuinely love being part of.
Peace, love, and real estate.
